FOX AND HOUNDS

Good Beer. Good Food. Good People.

WE ARE NOW OPEN!

We are now open and like most we’re trying to adapt as much as possible to the new government guidelines as we enter into tier 2 restrictions. As a result we’re limiting our opening times, we are also going to be booking tables within set sessions to make the most of the times we are open.

From Wednesday 16th December we are open every day up until the New Year.  After then we will review the situation.

Wednesday  7:30pm - 11:00pm

Thursday 4pm - 11pm (4 - 7 & 7:30 - 11:00)
Friday 4pm - 11pm (4 - 7 & 7:30 - 11:00)
Saturday 12pm - 11pm (12 - 3, 3:30 - 6:30 & 7 - 11)
Sunday 12pm – 7:30pm (12 - 3 & 3:30 - 6:30)

**Christmas Hours

21st, 22nd, 23rd December 4pm - 11pm (4 - 7 & 7:30 - 11:00)

24th - 31st December 12pm - 11pm (12 - 3, 3:30 - 6:30 & 7 - 11)

We have devised a new menu full of delicious substantial meals to enjoy, everyone in your party must be eating.  (Click the "Food Menu" button at the top of this page for an example menu)

Most people will be seated outside and we will try to heat the areas as much as possible but we advise you to wrap up warm and to wear lots of layers.

**subject to change dependent on demand

BOOK A TABLE

For our opening hours please see the section above.

All bookings are held for a maximum of 15 minutes so if you're running late you need to let us know and you will still need to leave at the end of your allocated time slot.

All tables for 5 - 6 people will be seated outside, these areas are covered and heated but you are still essentially sat outside so we do suggest that you wrap up warm with plenty of layers, hats, gloves and scarves.  Think apres ski attire :)

Booking for tables of 4 or less will be automatically seated inside, if you are not from the same household or in a support bubble and require to be seated outside then please write a request in the notes section and we will try our best to accommodate you.

WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU COME TO THE FOX

During both lockdowns we have worked really hard behind the scenes to make your experience here as safe and comfortable as possible.  As you may know already, to do this we decided to implement a code of conduct for customers to keep everyone who visits as safe as possible.  Here it is if you want to familiarise yourself before your visit

Are you feeling OK?

No change to this one, it's a bit of a life mantra these days - if you’re feeling unwell, have had a persistent cough, a high temperature or seem to have lost your sense of taste or smell, please first inform a member of staff and then leave immediately.  We also advise you to consult the government guidelines on getting tested and informing NHS Test and Trace, self-isolate for a week (family members/people you live with and people you have been sitting with are advised to self-isolate for 2 weeks).

Only a maximum six people to one table

No change here but the government is clamping down on this and we are not allowed to seat more than 6 people together, (less inside and if you're not in the same family / support bubble) even if you are living in the same household or are a mixture of adults and children. The police now have the powers to enforce these legal limits, including to issue fines (fixed penalty notice) of £100, doubling for further breaches up to a maximum of £3,200 (no one wants this to happen)!

No table hopping or moving tables once seated

This is a BIG one and we still don’t want to be party poopers, but it is so important that once seated you remain seated for the duration of your stay only leaving your seat to use to loo or pay your bill.  If you want to move benches, you must wait for a member of our waiting staff to come to your table and we will seat you at a clean and disinfected table if there is a spare one available.  Even if it’s raining we ask you to remain seated and we will get to you as a priority but bear with us with us at busy times.  We will be operating a 1 strike and then out rule, if we have to tell you more than once to adhere to this rule we will politely ask you to pay you bill and leave (we really don’t want to have to do this so just stick to the guidelines above). 

Be nice

I’m putting this after the no table hopping / moving tables rule because if we do have to remind you, please don’t shoot the messenger, we’re only following government guidelines.  This is still all very new to us so if we make a mistake, please don’t just go on Trip Advisor and give us one star (lol), let us know what we can do to make your experience better and we will try to sort is out a quickly as possible.  .

Families

We’re so happy to welcome families back to The Fox. We ask that you make sure you children remain seated and you accompany the younger ones to the loos.  We have made the front ladies loo a family loo as it’s a bit bigger and there is no cubicle. Anyone can use this loo, male or female with no need to ask.  We allow children in the pub up until 8pm. We may remind you it’s getting close to that time to ensure you are able to finish your drinks at a comfortable pace 

Paying your bill

When you arrive we will ask you to start a tab. We will take your card and give you a tab number that matches the number on the table you are sat it (this is another reason not to move tables).  When you are ready to pay, ask your waiter to give you your bill. Please check it (and work out splits before paying to avoid congestion at the bar) then walk into to the bar a member of our team will help you settle your bill (no need to wait to be taken to the till).

Lastly

Where possible, please avoid touching anything unnecessarily when walking through the pub, (the bar, windows, doors that are wedged open already). This is to keep you and us as safe as possible.

We hope to see you soon, stay safe from all of us at The Fox
